Exercising while pregnant is important to keep you physically and
emotionally healthy. Many women wonder how much is too much. One
rule of thumb is to not allow your heart rate to exceed 140 beats/min.
This can cause you to become overheated and might cause the blood
that is flowing to the baby to be less oxygenated that usual. It is
also suspected that in the first trimester especially that if you get
too hot it would interfere with the baby's natural development. Your
body temperature should not exceed 103 degrees. If you body
temperature exceeds this it requires taking blood away from the baby
to cool down your body. If your body temperature does reach this
point you are likely to faint. It is more difficult to cool off when
you are pregnant. To prevent any of these complications drink plenty
of water and take frequent breaks while exercising. Below are some suggested exercise activities for pregnant women

Aerobics (Low-impact) - This form of exercise is full of dance like
movements that does not involve hopping or jumping and usually keeps
one or both feet on the floor.

Water Exercise- Swimming or water aerobics are perfect for pregnant
women because there is minimal stress to your joints and it can
exercise every muscule in your body, helping to maintain your muscle
tone.

Walking- You can do this one! Even if you just park your car a little
farther from the entrance of the store, every little bit helps. Take
time each day to do some walking.

Stretching- As your body becomes more awkward with pregnancy
stretching becomes very important. Stretch gently and slowly to
accommodate the changes in your body.
